Practice nurses are qualified and registered nurses. They can help with health issues such as family planning, healthy living advice, blood pressure checks and dressings.

The practice nurses run clinics for long-term health conditions such as asthma, COPD or diabetes.
We also offer routine cervical screening appointments. Minor ailment appointments are available as book on the day appointments.

The practice nurses can also provide and administer travel vaccines clinic every – please complete a travel form, available at reception.

One of our team will then contact you with an appointment if necessary. When booking an appointment with the nurse, it would be helpful if you could tell the receptionist what the appointment is for to enable them to direct you to the appropriate clinic.

We have Healthcare Assistants who have undertaken a high level of training and offer phlebotomy services, 24 hour BP monitoring, diabetic foot checks, B12 injections and flu jabs/child nasal spray

Practice Team

The practice manager is involved in managing all of the business aspects of the practice such as making sure that the right systems are in place to provide a high quality of patient care, human resources, finance, patient safety, premises and equipment and information technology.

The practice manager supports the GPs and other medical professionals with delivering patient services and also helps to develop extended services to enhance patient care.

Receptionists provide an important link for patients with the practice and are your initial contact point for general enquiries. They can provide basic information on services and results and direct you to the right person depending on your health issue or query.

Receptionists make most of the patient appointments with the GPs and nurses. They also perform other important tasks such as issuing repeat prescriptions and dealing with prescription enquiries.

The Secretaries process all practice referrals, scan and code the hospital letters, new patient summaries, action doctor’s reports and provide copies of medical records on request from solicitors and insurance companies. They each also have a specialised workload.

The main bulk of the administration teams duties is to process all nursing home patient queries, deal with any tasks the GP’s may send regarding patient test results or appointments needed.

Pharmacists

Promotes the appropriate prescribing of medications within the practice, and offers medicine related day-to-day advice to our clinicians as part of a multi-disciplinary team. Also provides medication reviews face to face or telephone reviews. You can also discuss your BP and cholesterol level with our pharmacist if advised to do so to by a GP, Nurse or HCA.

Physiotherapist

  • the assessing and diagnosing of issues
  • giving expert advice on how best to manage their conditions
  • referring onto specialist services if necessary.

Patients with back and joint pain, including conditions such as arthritis, are able to contact their local physiotherapist directly, rather than waiting to see a GP or being referred to hospital. Patients can book in to see a physiotherapist by speaking to the GP practice receptionist or by being referred by their GP.

Midwife

Please contact reception in the first instance if you have had a positive pregnancy test so that we can ask the midwife to contact you with your first booking appointment. You will be asked the date of your last monthly period and are usually seen at around 8-11 weeks gestation.
